guidelines

Written

  • 300 - 2,500 words

  • Must be nonfiction.

  • Names of living people may only be used with their permission.

  • The submitter must be the original author of the work.

  • Work that has already been published will not be accepted.

  • Submissions must be appropriate for all ages.

  • If you are under the age of 18: Permission must be obtained from a parent or guardian before submitting.

Multimedia

  • Multimedia submissions include (but are not limited to) artwork, cartoons, photography, videos, etc.

  • The submitter must be the original author of the work.

  • Work that has already been published will not be accepted.

  • Submissions must be appropriate for all ages.

  • If you are under the age of 18: Permission must be obtained from a parent or guardian before submitting.
  • Optional: You can include a written portion 300 - 2,500 words with your artwork, following the same criteria as written submissions. (If you are describing your work, it does not need to be nonfiction, though please note that it is fictional.)

If you're under 18 and want to share your grief, don't worry: you still can.
To protect the privacy of teens under the age of 18, you'll need to state that you are under 18 when you turn in your submission. You will not be asked to provide your age or birthday. By knowing that you are under 18, TGS will take extra steps to protect your safety if we publish your article.
If you are under 18, please also make sure to gain permission from a parent or guardian before turning in your submission. If your parent or guardian has any questions, requests, or comments regarding your submission, please ask them to email teenagegriefsucks@gmail.com.

If your submission is chosen, you'll receive an email from teenagegriefsucks@gmail.com within 2 weeks of when you turned in your submission.
